This year’s US Open golf tournament was a great watch. For one thing, we’re all just so happy that golf is back on schedule post-COVID 19 pandemic—we are definitely feeling grateful to be able to watch our favorite golf tournaments again this year! For another thing, the 2021 US Open was full of amazing players displaying their skill.

First Major Win for Jon Rahm
This win is a big deal for Spain’s Jon Rahm, who has never come out on top at a major tournament before. Rahm has been waiting for this moment, with a tie for fifth place at the Masters in April and another top-ten finish at the PGA, so it is great to see him finally get to sink his teeth into a major win (with more to come in the future, we’re predicting). And what a win! It was a very close game, but Rahm’s gorgeous putting on 17 and 18 gave him the winning edge. Rahm said about his win “It’s incredible I finished the way I did. Sometimes you have to attack a golf course. This is the power of positive thinking.”
Oosthuizen’s Close Second
Rahm wasn’t the only incredible golfer at Torrey Pines during the 2021 US Open. There were a lot of amazing golfers playing their best, but one player we couldn’t take our eyes off of was South African Louis Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen played a wonderfully controlled game showcasing his skill, and we love to see his good sportsmanship as well, saying “I played good. Just fell a little short again. It was Jon played a great round of golf; four under today on that golf course is a really good score.” Well said, Louis!
