How to Clean Golf Clubs
Your golf club heads get dirt and grime building up in the grooves, which can have a negative impact on your control. Give them a good scrub regularly to make sure you’re playing your best.
Mix warm water with about 2 tablespoons of liquid soap in a bucket. Let the club heads soak in the mixture for about 10 minutes. Dip a toothbrush in the soapy liquid and use it to scrub the club heads, focusing on the grooves especially. Lay the clubs out on a clean towel to dry.
How to Clean Golf Grips
The grips on your clubs can get pretty grimy. Clean grips are easier to, well, grip, and will give you a better game. Note: if you have any tears in your grips, forget about cleaning them—it’s time to replace them.
To clean your grips thoroughly, mix up another bucket of warm, soapy water, dunk your grips, and scrub them with either a washcloth or a scrub brush. Wipe them down with a clean, dry towel to remove the grime and then rinse the grips under clean water. Lay them out on a clean surface to air dry or pat them dry with a towel.
How to Clean Golf Balls
Clean golf balls play better, plus if they’re sparkling white they’re a lot easier to find on the course!
First, use a dry dish towel to wipe down your golf balls. This will get rid of any larger bits of caked on dirt and debris. Next, fill up a bucket with (you guessed it!) warm, soapy water. Add a bit more soap than you did for the clubs and grips, enough to produce lots of suds. Let your golf balls soak in the sudsy water for an hour or two. When you remove the balls from the soapy mixture, rinse them under clean water and wipe them down with a clean, dry dish towel. Leave them out to air dry fully before playing with them again.
