Ready to improve your golf game in 2023? Try making a habit of these simple strategies.
Focus on Your Mental Game
Many golfers overlook the power of the mental game. That is, maintaining a sense of calm and not letting your frustrations get to you. The more you focus on your mindset, you will see your focus improve and have more fun, too. Next time you feel yourself getting flustered during a round of golf, take a moment to take a few deep breaths, and let go of your frustration.
Take Smaller Strokes on the Green
While it may be tempting to take a bigger stroke on the green and try to get your ball in the hole in fewer strokes, smaller strokes give you more control over your putting and will often result in a better score, not to mention help build your skills. Make it a habit this year to try for smaller, lighter strokes once you reach the green and see how it improves your game.
Learn How to Spot Dead Zones
Every hole has a dead zone–an area where, if your ball lands there, you’ll inevitably be adding a few more strokes to your scorecard. This is easy enough to spot on holes that have a sand trap or water hazard, but make it a habit to learn how to identify and avoid any area that will put you behind by a few strokes, and exercise extra caution playing around those areas.
Review Your Game
Take some time on what you did well and what you struggled with, when your frustration affected your game, what you could have had more control over, etc. You can even take notes if you find that helpful. Setting aside a little time to review and reflect on your game will make a big difference in identifying areas where you need improvement.
Try Different Golf Balls
This year, make it a goal to try at least 3 golf balls that you’ve never tried before. The golf ball you choose can make a big difference to the way you play, and it could be that you’re not using the best ball for you. Opt for used golf balls from Golf Ball Planet so you can try a wide variety of different types of golf balls at a great price.
