The 2023 Masters
Golfers look forward to the Masters at Augustana every year, and 2023 is no different. Fans are eager to see if Scottie Scheffler will defend his title, whether Tiger Woods will play in the event, and how other favorites like Rory McIlroy will fare. The Masters is generally considered the highlight golf event of the year, and it also marks the time of year when amateur golfers are just starting to get back out on the course as the warmer weather hits, so watching the Masters is always a great way to get excited about your own golf game and get inspired to improve and play more.
Golf Innovations
Whether you love or hate LIV Golf, you can’t deny that the controversial golf league’s existence has pushed the PGA to start coming up with some groundbreaking innovations. LIV is the Roman numeral for 54, which is the lowest score a golfer could get if they were to birdie every hole on a par-72 course. Greg Norman, LIV Golf’s CEO, has said that the use of the Roman numeral is intended to be aspirational, and the rise of the Saudi golf league has definitely pushed for more creativity and innovation from the PGA. With things like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s upcoming tech-infused golf league already in the pipeline, golf enthusiasts are excited to see what type of announcements are made in 2023 to make golf more interesting and engaging to spectators.
Tiger Woods Getting Back into the Swing of Things
It’s been a slow time for Tiger fans these past few years while he recovered from a major injury and has slowly begun to get back on the course. While we can’t say for sure how much Woods will play this year, or how good his game will be, we are looking forward to seeing him on the course more than we did last year and hopefully see some of the old Tiger magic that everyone has been missing.
The British Open
2023 will mark the 151st annual British Open, which will be held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake. This course should offer up a lot of interesting challenges for even the most skilled players, and we can’t wait to see how Rory McIlroy does in his attempt to get his hands on the Claret Jug for the first time since 2014 at this same golf course.
The Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf Club
The Ryder Cup is always a major event for golf enthusiasts, and this year fans are excited to see it take place in Italy at the Marco Simone Golf Club. The course is located within an historical estate and is next door to an 11th-century castle, so this venue is sure to offer some pretty incredible views as well as the outstanding golf we’ve come to expect at the Ryder Cup.
