The Arnold Palmer Invitational 2023 saw a number of incredible golfers battle it out in windy conditions and ended with a first-time PGA winner taking first place.
Kurt Kitayama’s First PGA Tour Victory
The Arnold Palmer Invitational 2023, which took place from March 2nd to 5th, did not give us a clear winner early on. In fact, with just three holes left, five golfers were tied for first place. It was neck-and-neck, but Kurt Kitayama ultimately came out on top and won the invitational. Kitayama had some rocky shots at first, but he rallied and came back with some amazing golf that secured his victory.
This marks Kitayama’s first PGA victory, which is a major milestone in any professional golfer’s career. Kitayama’s career earnings up to this point were $4.1 million, so the Arnold Palmer Invitational winner’s purse of $3.6 million almost doubles his career earnings.

Rory McIlroy & Harris English Tie for Second Place
Rory McIlroy and Harris English ended up tying for second place at 8-under par, earning them each $1.78 million in prize money and spots in the PGA Open Championship. McIlroy didn’t play his best in the opening round, but he brought his game back after that, showcasing the great McIlroy golf we all know. It wasn’t enough to secure the win, but he played solidly and is in good stead to go into the Open.
English is looking forward to his eighth start at the Open, telling the media, “It’s one of my favorite tournaments of the year. Nothing beats an Open Championship.”
