These mistakes are common in both beginners and seasoned golfers. Take note of these mistakes and work on them to improve your game.
Not Practicing Your Short Game
Many golfers let short game practice fall by the wayside, but it is just as important as long-game practice (and is the thing that most golfers struggle the most with). Bonus: you don’t have to pay for the driving range to practice your short game, you can do it for free at home.
Swinging too Hard
It’s natural to want to try to swing hard and send the ball as far as possible, but swinging your hardest can actually be counterproductive because it gives you less control. Swinging softer and focusing on control, consistency, and accuracy is much better for your game overall and will get you to the hole in fewer strokes in the end.
Skipping Your Warmup
Warming up your body is important for your game and your health. If you take the time to warm up, you will be more flexible, limber, and less restricted by tension. Not only that, you won’t be sore after and you’ll be less likely to injure yourself.
Not Taking Lessons
Many people start golfing and figure they’ll just pick up what they need to know, but, listen, golf is tough! It requires a ton of different skills and unique techniques that are so much easier to learn from a professional than from trial and error. Taking lessons is a good idea if possible and will improve your game at a much quicker pace than the alternative.
