Take Care of Your Body
Make sure you keep your body in shape for the course even when you’re taking time off from the course. Do regular stretches, keep physically active, and make it a habit of doing exercises that are beneficial to golfers. Check out this blog post for some simple exercises that will improve your golf game.
Work on Your Posture
You can do this at home in front of the mirror. For the perfect golf posture, you should bend right at the hips so that your arms are directly below your shoulders and your chest is over your toes. Work on getting comfortable in this stance, distributing your weight evenly, and keeping your balance.
Putting Practice
While it may be a bad idea to try practicing your drives indoors (that definitely is a bad idea, please don’t), you can practice putting inside your home with no worry of breaking a window or TV screen. Putting practice is easy to do in the off-season, and it is the part of the game that most people struggle with the most, so spending a little extra time practicing your short game will serve you well when it’s time to get back on the course in the spring.
Build Your Knowledge
Use the extra time staying indoors during the winter to build your golf knowledge off the course so you can apply it practically later. Read up on golf strategies, practice mindfulness for golfers, or listen to some of the many excellent podcasts for golfers. There are a ton of free resources out there that you can learn from while sitting on the couch and winter is the best time to take advantage of that.
